Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) reshapes, tightens, lifts, and repositions breasts that are sagging, pendulous, or elongated. Factors such as time, aging, gravity, pregnancy, large fluctuations in weight, and breastfeeding can all contribute to breast sagging. Women with breast sagging, misshapen breasts, and downward-pointing nipples can all benefit from breast lift surgery. If desired, breast lift surgery can be combined with breast augmentation to further enhance breast shape and volume.
A breast lift is commonly performed in combination with additional breast surgeries, such as breast augmentation (augmentation mammoplasty) and breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty).

What Is Achieved With Breast Lift Surgery?
More Youthful Breasts
Breast sagging is commonly associated with aging. The effects of time and gravity weigh the breasts down, and they inevitably begin to sag over time. Breast lift surgery eliminates sagging and restores youthful perkiness, helping you to look and feel younger.

Breast Lift
In most cases, Dr. Chin will make an incision that encircles the areola, goes vertically down to the breast crease, and extends along the breast crease. Dr. Chin will then move the nipples upward into a more attractive position and tighten the breast tissue and skin. He will then remove excess skin as necessary. Afterward, the breasts will be firmer, rounder, more lifted, and more youthful.
This incision is often referred to as an anchor incision.
Breast Lift With Augmentation
Dr. Chin will perform traditional breast lift surgery but will also insert breast implants to enhance breast volume. This technique is often sought by women who have lost breast volume due to pregnancy and nursing and want to improve the breast shape. Dr. Chin will insert the implants through the same surgical incisions used to lift and tighten the breast tissues. Afterward, the breasts will be firmer, rounder, fuller, more lifted, and more youthful.
Breast lift surgery is also a common accompaniment of breast implant removal or breast revision surgery.
What Are Some Frequently Asked Questions About Breast Lift Surgery?
How much is breast lift surgery?
Your breast lift cost will vary depending on the extent of your procedure and whether breast augmentation or breast reduction is being performed simultaneously. The cost of your breast lift will include surgeon’s fees, anesthesia fees, facility fees, pre-surgical appointments, and post-surgical dressings. Dr. Chin will provide you with an accurate cost estimate during your breast lift consultation.
What will my recovery be like after breast lift surgery?
Immediately after surgery, your breasts will be wrapped in a bandage. This bandage will later be replaced with a surgical bra. It is common to experience mild pain, numbness, swelling, or bruising for the first few weeks. Some swelling and numbness may continue for longer. Many patients are ready to return to work after approximately one week to 10 days of resting at home. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for six weeks. Dr. Chin will give you more specific recovery instructions based on your unique circumstances.
Are there health risks associated with undergoing breast lift surgery?
All surgical procedures carry some level of risk. In rare cases, breast lift patients may experience adverse reactions to the anesthesia or may develop an infection. Nonetheless, risks are rare, and most patients experience no complications at all. Dr. Chin can give you more details of the potential health risks during your consultation.
Will I have noticeable scarring after my breast lift?
Noticeable scarring is unavoidable after breast lift surgery. Even so, breast lift scars can easily be hidden by clothing and will fade as time passes. Most patients do not mind the scars because they are so happy with their surgical results.
How do I know if I need breast lift surgery?
Breast lift surgery is designed for women with noticeable breast sagging. All women experience breast sagging to one degree or another, but not every woman’s level of breast sagging is enough to warrant surgical correction. Women who are over 50 or who have had several children are more likely to need a breast lift. If you observe that your breasts are sagging or elongated, that your nipples point downward, or that your areolas are enlarged, it may be a good time to consider breast lift surgery. Dr. Chin can help you determine whether a breast lift is right for you during your personal consultation. As there is no nonsurgical breast lift that can rival the results offered with traditional surgery, women with moderate to severe breast sagging should consider a breast lift surgery.
Will my breast lift results be permanent?
The striking results of breast lift surgery can be long lasting, but they cannot prevent gravity and aging from causing future breast sagging. Smaller breasts tend to have the best long-term results, as larger breasts are heavier and more likely to sag. Any future pregnancy or nursing can cause the breasts to stretch out again, which may negate the results of your breast lift surgery.
What will I look like after my breast lift surgery?
