Top 5 Plastic Surgeries for Men
Posted February 01, 2023 in Male Plastic Surgery
4 Minute Read:
Every year, more and more men turn to plastic surgeries to help them look the way they desire, improving their comfort and confidence.
And while there are numerous body contouring and facial procedures available to men, below is a breakdown of the five most popular.
1. Liposuction
Liposuction surgery is one of the most common and trusted plastic surgery procedures available.
This is largely because the results achieved by this versatile procedure are stunning. Not only can liposuction effectively remove stubborn fat (the fat that is resistant to natural fat reduction efforts, like diet and exercise), but liposuction is included in many other cosmetic procedures, including a few on this list.
For liposuction, small incisions are made in the treatment area that are just large enough for a cannula to be inserted. This thin (and hollow) tube loosens subcutaneous fat before it is removed from the body.
Liposuction can be used on various areas of the body, including the abdomen, love handles, chest, and arms.
2. Male Breast Reduction
Gynecomastia is one of the most common cosmetic concerns for men, and it is one that causes men to feel self-conscious and embarrassed.
Usually caused by a hormonal imbalance of testosterone and estrogen, this condition creates excess fat and/or breast tissue in men, which causes the presence of breasts (or “man boobs,” as they’re commonly known).
Nearly 65 percent of males struggle with this condition and, sadly, gynecomastia often cannot
be addressed through natural means. Instead, gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction surgery) is necessary.
Gynecomastia surgery can be performed one of two ways (or a combination of both). If the gynecomastia is caused by excess fat in the chest, then liposuction can be used to remove the fat. However, if the male breasts are caused by excess breast tissue in the chest, then this breast tissue must be surgically excised.
Many men require both liposuction and tissue excision to achieve optimal results. Men with severe gynecomastia may also require excess skin to be removed and/or their nipple-areola to be repositioned.
However, once their gynecomastia surgery is complete, men can look forward to a more masculine chest appearance and improved confidence.
3. Eyelid Lift
The eyes are one of the most important parts of our faces, so if you struggle with excess skin, sagging skin, or puffiness in your eyelids, along with bags under your eyes, then your entire facial appearance can be negatively affected. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a procedure that helps give a more attractive appearance to your eyes and entire face.
You can either have upper blepharoplasty (to address issues in your upper eyelid), lower blepharoplasty (to correct issues in your lower eyelid), or a combination of both.
Excess fat and tissue may be removed, sagging skin may be surgically removed, and the remaining tissue and muscle may be repositioned to help give you eyelids that complement the natural appearance of your face.
4. Nose Surgery
Rhinoplasty (cosmetic nose surgery) was the most performed cosmetic surgical procedure in 2020 for men (and women).
Our noses are central to our faces, so if you struggle with an imperfect nose (whether from genetics or injury), then your entire facial aesthetic can be negatively altered.
Whether you have a crooked nose, a nose too large or small for your face, or a nose with an imperfection (like a nasal hump or upturned nasal tip, etc.), corrective nose surgery may be chosen to address the issue and return balance to your facial features.
Depending on your cosmetic needs, the nose can be straightened, bone and cartilage can be removed, or cartilage grafts can be used to augment the size and shape of the nose.
5. Tummy Tuck
You may call it a “beer gut,” “spare tire,” or “dad belly.” However, whatever nickname you attach to it, the reality is the same.
Men of all ages struggle with excess fat and sagging skin in the midsection. This can detract from your strong and masculine appearance, and, often, no amount of sit-ups or time in the gym can give you the results you want. However, tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty) addresses concerns in and around the abdomen.
You can look forward to a more contoured and attractive midsection after your tummy tuck, along with better posture (from the tightened core muscles).
